Autumn

What an exciting season of change, colors, and fun experiences! I love autumn for the opportunities to talk about the changing of the seasons, watch the leaves change colors and fall to the ground, and take opportunities to go to an apple orchard or pumpkin patch! There are tons of natural learning opportunities as well as ways to incorporate this fun season into play.

Here are some ideas of concepts that were in my mind while creating the plan for the fall season, and for you to think of as you work to engage your child in play that suits their needs and interests! By no means is this list exhaustive, so if you have a special fall holiday or favorite vehicle or hobby that is not on this list make sure you include it with your child as a special part of your own family!

General Concepts: Apples, orchard, pumpkin, pumpkin patch, trees, farm, harvest, corn beans

Weather: Change, cooler, windy, warmer clothes

Holidays: Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving

Occupations: Bus driver, teacher, farmer

Vehicles: Combine, tractor, school bus

Colors: Orange, yellow, red, brown

Ask lot’s of questions, be descriptive, but most of all enjoy your time together and happy playing!
